Irlanya is the artistic identity of Sylvia Navarro, an independent composer, vocalist, producer, and recording artist based in Fort Worth, Texas. Her work inhabits the intersection of orchestral music, storytelling, and the literary imagination. Rooted in classical tradition and shaped by years of composing for film and television, her musical language draws upon the expressive possibilities of the human voice, acoustic instrumentation, and cinematic composition.

Her musical education began at age six through the Suzuki method, followed by classical piano studies with Robert Marullo in Connecticut from the ages of nine to eighteen. Beyond technique and theory, Marullo encouraged her to improvise and explore her own musical curiosities, fostering an early understanding that discipline and imagination need not exist in opposition. She later attended Fairfield University, where her studies in theology, philosophy, psychology, and literature deepened her interest in questions of faith, meaning, and the human experience.

Before establishing her independent artistic practice, Irlanya spent approximately four years at Bleeding Fingers Music, contributing as a composer and vocalist to internationally distributed productions including Alien Worlds (Netflix), Earth at Night in Color (Apple TV+), Seven Worlds, One Planet (BBC), Prehistoric Planet (Apple TV+), and Primates (BBC). Her instrumental compositions have also appeared across productions associated with Disney+, National Geographic, HBO Max, and the History Channel through Extreme Music and Universal Production Music. Her work can additionally be heard at Universal Orlando Resort's Epic Universe.

Working independently through Pier Glass Music, Irlanya brings together composition, vocal performance, and production. Her creative process often involves extensive improvisation and intricate vocal layering, sometimes recording hundreds of individual passages to construct elaborate choral textures. She approaches the human voice not merely as a vehicle for lyrics, but as an instrument capable of carrying narrative and emotional meaning.

In 2022, she began developing Irlanya as a distinct artistic identity, pursuing a body of original work beyond commissioned music. Her self-titled debut album, Irlanya (2026), explores memory, identity, longing, and imagined worlds through orchestral composition and vocal storytelling.

Influenced by literature, philosophy, nature, and her Christian faith, her artistic practice is increasingly concerned with re-enchantment: the recovery of wonder through attentive listening, imagination, and a renewed engagement with the world. Drawing upon the tradition of mythopoeia, she approaches composition as a form of storytelling in its own right.

Her growing body of work reflects an artistic vision still unfolding, guided by a desire to create music that invites listeners not to escape the world, but to encounter it with a renewed sense of wonder.
